Setting up a Simple Forward of your E-Mail |
The following is aimed at those that desire to make use of a web based e-mail client solution, something IGS does NOT offer or support in any manner. The IGS Webmail is NOT an e-mail client program, it is a legacy interface for dial-up users wanting a method to be able to delete a large message without having to download it on a slow dial-up connection. Anyone using Webmail for anything beyond that is doing so at their own risk as the interface was not configured to be an e-mail client or a method to store old e-mail. Further, the security features of Webmail are now beyond service life and require either old software or security exceptions to even be accessible, this will not be upgraded as dial-up has not been supported at IGS KW for years. Also, as a result of the outdated encryption in Webmail, there can now be significant delays in the sending of e-mail from the interface, up to several hours, therefore it is advisable to not use Webmail for the sending of e-mail due to this risk. IGS has promoted running a e-mail client program on your computer since the days of Windows 3.11, is a better solution, and we continue to encourage those still making use of Webmail to install or configure an e-mail client program on their devices. If for whatever reason you insist on using a web based e-mail interface, something like GMail or Yahoo are good free solutions and offer large storage capacity, something the IGS Webmail interface will never be able to provide as it is targetted at dial-up users with small mailboxes not exceeding 10MegaBytes. Webmail will be permanently shut down June 30, 2022. Again, if you want to use a web browser based e-mail solution, following the simple steps below will allow you to forward your IGS e-mail messages to another account such as a GMail or Yahoo one that provides full e-mail client like services. Keep in mind they pay for those services through advertising, something you don't have to put up with when using a client e-mail program on your computer. If you want take our advice and setup an e-mail client program on your computer, all the settings are available at http://www.kw.igs.net/mailsetup.html including some specific instructions for a free program called Thunderbird. |
